Jude Labaddy, a dietary cook at The Gardens Court in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, received Life Care Centers of America’s Southeast Division Whatever It Takes And Then Some Award on Aug. 28, 2019, for his dedication to customer service.
Executives from Life Care awarded Labaddy a cash prize during an awards ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was chosen from among hundreds of associates in the Southeast Division and was one of only eight associates from Life Care’s more than 200 facilities nationwide to receive the award.
Labaddy, who has served the facility for 11 years, is known for his professionalism and jovial smile. He has filled in as the department manager to ensure uninterrupted service to residents and assisted the department and the maintenance crew in doing a deep cleaning of the kitchen.
On another occasion, Labaddy offered his unused vacation time to a fellow associate who was dealing with her husband’s terminal illness. The associate was able to spend more time by his side as he was dying.
“I always like working hard,” said Labaddy. “I spend my time to take care of everybody and everything. It makes me feel good to win this award.”
Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program rewards associates for extraordinary acts of kindness. Monthly awards are presented in Life Care facilities nationwide based on nominations from fellow associates, family members, residents and guests. Each facility then chooses an annual winner, from which the divisional winners are selected.
“Dedicated caregivers routinely go far above and beyond their job descriptions, and Jude Labaddy certainly demonstrates by his example their professionalism and compassion for the residents they serve,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “We are proud of Jude and the thousands he represents in their selfless approach to the needs of others.”
